School Is Out For Summer

The 2016-2017 school year has come to a close. For kids, this means no more waking up early, no more waiting at the bus stop and no more homework for the next three months. For parents, it means making plans for your children during the work week, planning summer vacations and taking a break from packing lunches, homework reminders, etc. And for some morning commuters, it means no more flashing yellow lights in schools zones and bus stops.

While the flashing school zone lights have been turned off for the summer, it is still extremely important for drivers to pay attention to the road and to obey the speed limits. Although there are no children in the schools, there are children riding bikes, walking to the swimming pool, playing on playgrounds, crossing the street to meet friends and more. It is summer and kids are out doing what kids do best in the summer - having fun.

Before we know it, it will be August and the flashing school zone lights will be back on and the school buses will be an extra reminder to proceed through the areas with caution. Until then, remember to be cognizant of children enjoying their summer break. Drive safely and smart.
