Prior to this, the word was we are going to have a wet and cold winter. But according to the Weather Channel, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is predicting an El Niño winter season, meaning a warmer than average winter. For our area in the northeast, we will see average precipitation or less than average precipitation for the first part of winter and then below average for the second part of our winter season. We have seen an up and down pattern to our temperature thus far but predictions are for warmer than normal temps for most of the country. The Farmer’s Almanac is calling for warmer temps with precipitation for our winter season.
I will take that over last winter where we had waterline breaks all over the city and meters freezing at the curbside.
