Fall Activities

Where has this year gone? I think we can all admit this year has been a blur with COVID-19. We have all canceled family functions, vacations, weddings, parties, etc., because of social distancing guidelines.

It almost makes it hard to imagine what to do this fall without the traditional activities like hayrides, haunted houses, pumpkin picking, etc.

Luckily, there are still lots of activities that can be done to keep the fall fun alive. With much of fall’s beauty tied to the color of leaves changing, one of my fondest memories with my family growing up was going on natural trail hikes or bike rides to enjoy those colorful leaves.

My brothers and I would also pile up all the leaves in the yard that to leap and play around in them all day.

My family also loved pumpkin picking, whether we went to the local farm or the local grocery store. The best part was going home, carving our design and lighting the candle to watch it glow in night.

Here are few ideas for anyone struggling with having to make changes to their fall traditions. Don’t let the cancellations of the fall festivals, etc., ruin the season for your family:

  • Make homemade hot chocolate
  • Make pumpkin cookies
  • Make your own maze out of fallen tree leaves
  • Paint acorns/pinecones

The list is endless! Happy fall!
