Importance of Getting Back into a Routine

Summer usually means later nights and sleeping in the next morning, but with school just around the corner, it’s important to get back to a steady routine to start the year off strong! Here are some tips to ease back into a routine before the bell rings.

1.    Start adjusting sleep schedules a week before you need to be up early

One of the hardest parts about getting back into a routine is getting adequate sleep and getting out of bed on time. Start shifting sleep schedules a week before you need to be up early consistently, and you’ll find getting out of bed on time won’t be so difficult on the first day back.

2.    Pack your lunch the night before

This one’s pretty self-explanatory. Packing your lunch the night before gives you extra time in the morning, especially if you’re in a rush. Just remember to grab your lunch bag on the way out the door!

3.    Be flexible

No one is perfect, and no routine is perfect. If you don’t stick entirely to your routine for a day, don’t beat yourself up for it. Routines are there to help us through the day, not to make us feel bad if we don’t achieve everything. If you stray from your routine, keep at it or start from the basics again.

How will you be changing your routine as everyone goes back to school?
