National Family Day

September 27th is National Family Day! This is a day that encourages everyone to take the time to sit down and have a family dinner at the dining room table. Family bonding is so important but is also a challenge when it comes to managing the schedules of all members. An evening practice or sporting event may get in the way of family dinners, especially now that school and fall sports are back in session.

If you cannot make family dinner work every night of the week, try to select one day each week that you sit down and enjoy a meal with family. There are some benefits to having a family meal. According to the National Center on Addiction, families who eat three or more meals a week together reduce a teen’s risk of using drugs and alcohol. Eating a meal together also results in learning healthy eating habits, eating smaller portions and building a stronger relationship.

Take time to have a meal with your family; talk, gather and enjoy each other’s company!
