National Kick Butts Day

Kick Butts Day, which is celebrated this year on April 1, 2022, is a day of youth activism to speak out and raise awareness of the problems with tobacco use in communities and states.

The first Kick Butts Day was held in 1996 and was organized by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, which encouraged youth to reject the tobacco industry’s deceptive marketing and stay tobacco-free.

Ninety percent of adult smokers begin this deadly addiction as teenagers or even younger, making our youth a critical and important element in the fight against tobacco. Not only do they encourage one another to be tobacco-free, but urge elected leaders to take action to protect kids from tobacco by promoting policies such as prohibiting the sale of flavored tobacco products and implementing tight restrictions on marketing.
