Reflections on My First Year in Private Practice
I was reminded by a fellow attorney that it’s been one year since I ventured into private practice to join the law firm of Bordas & Bordas. Shocked by this revelation, I checked my start date and, sure enough, it has indeed been one year. I’ve been so preoccupied working with clients and truly enjoying my work, time had simply slipped away.
Prior to coming on board at Bordas & Bordas, I was a federal law clerk for 13 years for the Honorable Judge John Preston Bailey. Hitting that one-year milestone prompted me to reflect on this past year. I still cannot believe it has been that long. But, upon reflection, and seeing all the good I have helped accomplish at Bordas & Bordas, it adds up.
I’ve met with more clients than I even realized, attended more depositions than I can count, written more briefs than I can even recall, and so on. It’s amazing what one can accomplish in one revolution around the sun.
I have met so many amazing, talented people here who one year ago I had not had the pleasure of knowing. I have met so many clients, whose struggles I have helped resolved. I have furthered the interests of justice in ways I could not have even imagined. I’ve met challenges head-on and gotten results. And it feels good -- not just for me, but for the clients.
The satisfaction of knowing I have been a part of righting injustices and making my hometown and surrounding areas safer, better places to live is more rewarding than I ever anticipated. Bordas & Bordas truly sticks by its principle of fighting for justice, and I am proud to say I am a part of that.
I can’t wait to see what the next year, and the years after that bring. I am excited to continue to fight and win for our clients.
This year went by so quickly, but so much good was done. Although time has quickly passed by, I look forward to tackling new challenges and meeting new people in need. This is who I am now.
