Ride sharing is one of the best modes of transportation. Especially if you’re traveling. It’s less hassle, no more worrying about programing the GPS or finding somewhere to park. As long as you have a charged phone you always have a ride to and from your location. In bigger cities it only takes minutes before the car is ready to pick you up. Not only is it easy to use, but by using it you help cut down on traffic in your area. Ride share gives you the opportunity to meet a variety of new people. It’s important to remember that the vehicle you’re riding in is not owned by the ride share company. The ride is someone’s personal vehicle. Most of the time the drivers are just doing this work for extra income. The drivers often provide interesting stories or helpful tips about the city your visiting. Although I never had an issue with ride sharing, there has been reports in the past of passengers being in danger.
Uber has suggested a few tips to stay safe. When logging on to the app to request a ride, do it inside your starting point. Doing this will minimize the time you’re alone. Once Uber has confirmed your ride, the app will send you the license plate along with the driver’s name. Be sure to always check both before getting in a vehicle. When inside the vehicle always wear seatbelt and if possible sit in the back seat. Sitting in the back seat gives the driver personal space and you as the passenger an easy escape plan. And always rate your trip. If the driver is sketchy let Uber know you could be saving a future rider.
