Below are some general regulations, but please note you should always check with the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources or similar DNR in the state you’ll be hunting. Please review ALL the regulations before hunting.

This year, the West Virginia spring gobbler season is running through May 16. The season limit per person is two bearded turkeys. Shooting hours are from a half hour before sunrise to 1 p.m.  It is very important to make sure you are not violating any laws while hunting, as you can be arrested and convicted if found guilty. So, be aware. During West Virginia spring gobbler season it is illegal to, but not limited to:

* Have an uncased firearm, bow or crossbow in your possession in the woods after 1 p.m.

* Hunt with dogs

* Use electronic calls

* Hunt with the use of bait

* Take more than one bearded turkey per day

Please note the rules, regulations and requirements can change, so it is always good to review them before you go hunting. It’s especially important to review those pertaining to the type of licensing required; the types of firearms and bows that may be used; and the procedures for field tagging, checking and transporting the game.

So always be sure to review all the rules, regulations and requirements. Then enjoy your hunt.  Safe and happy hunting to all!
