Covid & Civil Matters

On April 24, 2020, the Supreme Court entered an order intended to assist courts and counsel in managing civil cases during the pandemic.  Trial courts are encouraged to assess their civil dockets and, where appropriate, to conduct status conferences or hearings via remote technology.  The order also establishes a briefing schedule governing pending and future motions.  Counsel are encouraged to continue their discovery.  For their part, trial courts are encouraged to be available "to the greatest extent possible" to resolve discovery disputes as they arise.  The order also provides specific guidelines for scheduling and taking depositions.  The full text of the order can be viewed at the following link:
